Late Friday in Manila, Philippines, the 24-year-old Mr Nigeria, Nelson Enwerem, emerged one of the top five talents on the Mr World pageant just finished.
A Nigeria News Agency correspondent who tracked the Lagos cable network competition also claims that the fresh Mr World 2019 arose from England’s Jack Heslewood.
During the grand finals, Heslewood defeated 71 other applicants to become the 10th Mr World.
NAN claims that the 27-year-old model has also won a prize for his remarkable drumming and has now succeeded the 29-year-old Rohit Khandelwal from India.
Also, Enwerem, a model and fashion designer who won the talent prize to be the best in graceful contemporary dance, informed Philippine-based NAN that he was thankful to Nigerians and their sponsors.
“I would just like to thank everyone who endorsed my trip very much. God bless all of you, I have attempted my utmost to represent our nation, which I am very sure I have done very well.
“I wasn’t winning, unfortunately, but anyone who watched the show or was at the case and anyone who competed with us is well conscious that the findings are not fair,” he said.
According to him, all I can say right now is that I’m grateful to God, Silverbird organisation, my family and friends and every Nigerian out there for making this experience worth it to me. NAN claims that although Mr Nigeria did not make the list of South Africa’s first five top candidates, Fezile Mkhize (black) did.
Mkhize was the first runner to emerge and won the title of Mr World Africa.
The biennial event that took place on Friday, Aug. 23, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum had Brian Faugier from Mexico as the second runner up.
The Philippines ‘ Bet Saliva came away with the title of Mr World Asia.
The five nations that made it to the finals were: Brazil, Mexico, Dominican Republic, South Africa, and the present champion, England.
