The Greek police said a driver carrying 13 migrants crammed into a fake ambulance was detained on Friday.
The 58-year-old driver resulted in the police on a wild chase near Thessaloniki, with blue lights flashing on both the ambulance, painted as a medical car and patrol vehicles chasing.
Following a call about a weird ambulance on the road, police moved to intercept the van. Greece intercepts almost daily smugglers of migrants.
People continue to arrive from Turkey by land and sea with the hope of ultimately reaching rich European nations.
Often for an uncertain journey, they pay enormous quantities of cash to smugglers and even risk their lives to accomplish the objective.
